The line stops being an argument

OPD queue management for busy outpatient clinics. Token numbers, states, and a receptionist who moves the line along — so nobody at the counter has to remember who came before whom.

One morning, two doctors, one line

Five patients, two doctors, one clinic account. Token order is the line; the status is where each person is in it. Switch to Dr. Bilal and Dr. Ayesha's patients are simply not there — that is a permission, not a filter.

The doctor has a desk. Everyone else has a phone.

Clivita is two screens onto one clinic. Which one you are on depends on what you are doing, not on what you paid for.

The consulting room

Clivita on the desktop

The doctor's screen. It opens from the desktop like any other program — no browser tab to lose between patients — and it is where the consultation, the prescription and the clinical record happen.

  • The full queue, scoped to that doctor
  • Prescribing, with the medicine catalogue
  • The patient's whole file, one click away

The counter and the corridor

Clivita in a browser, on a phone

Everyone around the doctor. A clean queue view with no sidebar and no top bar, built card-first for a phone and turning into a three-column board on a larger screen.

  • Check a patient in, or add a walk-in
  • Take vitals on a numeric keypad
  • Raise the bill, take the payment, print the receipt

Four things that stop needing you

Vitals, on a numeric keypad

Blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight — entered on a phone at the counter, on the patient's file before they sit down.

The bill, while they are still standing there

Raise it against the visit, take the payment, record a part-payment if that is what happened, print the receipt.

Correct the record on the spot

A misheard phone number, an age that was a guess, a spelling. Fixed from the same screen instead of a note to fix it later.

Scan them in off their prescription

The record number prints on every prescription as a QR. Scan the slip they brought back and the search is already done.

Hand over exactly as much as you mean to

Three switches, not one

Checking patients in, raising bills and printing receipts are separate permissions in Clivita. Turn them on and off to see what a receptionist would actually have.

Check in

Vitals and the clinical record sit behind their own permissions again — none of these three reach them.

They come back with the prescription. That is enough.

Every prescription Clivita prints carries the patient's record number as a small QR code. Months later they arrive with the creased slip and no idea which phone number they gave you — scan it on the phone and the file is already open.

How record numbers work

Questions from the front desk

Do patients need appointments, or does this handle walk-ins?
Walk-ins are the default. Every entry gets a token number and joins the line in order; an appointment simply arrives with a scheduled time attached. Nobody has to pre-book for the queue to work.
Does my receptionist need the desktop app?
No. The doctor works in the desktop app; everyone around them can work from a browser on a phone. It is the same queue and the same patients — a different screen for a different job.
Can my receptionist see other doctors' patients?
No. A receptionist is scoped to the doctor they are assigned to, so they see that one queue and no other. It is a permission, not a filter someone can switch off.
How much can I hand over without handing over everything?
Checking patients in, raising bills and printing receipts are three separate permissions. Grant the ones that suit your front desk and leave the rest. Clinical records stay behind their own permissions entirely.
What happens when somebody doesn't turn up?
Mark them no-show and the line moves on. It stays on the record rather than disappearing, so the day's numbers still add up at closing time.
Does the screen update on its own?
Yes — the list refreshes itself every 30 seconds on both screens, so a check-in at the counter shows up on the doctor's queue without anyone pressing anything. Patient photos and uploaded files are faster still: those stream through the moment they are taken.
What if I'm free and there are still people waiting?
Clivita tells you. When anyone is waiting and nobody is with the doctor, the desk raises an audible alert — the case where the line is stalled and the room is empty is exactly the one nobody notices from inside it.
Can a patient pay in two parts?
Yes. Part-payments are recorded against the bill rather than written on a sticky note, and returns are handled the same way, so the day's cash still reconciles at closing time.
